The AKC was established as an organization for amateurs. Therefore,
professional judges, trainers, and handlers are not eligible to be delegates.
Another purpose of AKC is to maintain the stud book for all of its accepted breeds

dog that was registered in the American Kennel Club Stud Book was named “

English setters, 756 have Gladstone or Count Noble blood; in the great majority

Labradors in America In the early 20th century in the United States, the Scottish
style shooting and the prestige of bringing over a Scottish gamekeeper became
popular, and this led to the import of Labrador Retrievers during World War I in
America. The first Labrador registered in the American Kennel Club stud book
was the Scottish bitch Brocklehirst Floss in 1917, the year that the AKC
recognized the breed. But the AKC still classified them as 'Retrievers', and it was
